The video that proves the Republic of Ireland can have no complaints, according to Roy Keane
Off The Post —
Posted By Rob Parker on November 20, 2009 Should Georgia get a replay? Roy Keane reckons the Republic of Ireland could not have expected their game against France to be replayed on the grounds of Thierry Henry’s handball. The Ipswich manager launched a scathing attack against the Football Association of Ireland for their protests following the match, and accused them of hypocrisy on the basis of the video above. He said: “Ireland had their chances in the two games, and they never took them. But it’s the usual FAI reaction - ‘We’ve been robbed, the honesty of the game.’ There was one match against Georgia where Ireland got a penalty and it was one of the ...
Weighing in
Out of touch —
Everyone has an opinion on the Thierry Henry handball. (What's the saying about opinions and assholes again?) Reaction to this incident has been anything but conservative, so much so that even soccer neophytes have an asshole opinion about it. I wouldn't be worth my bloggerly salt if I didn't at least weigh-in on this issue. First, let me make it abundantly clear: It is entirely regrettable that this happened. You don’t mess with Roy Keane, not as a manager and never as a player. You certainly don’t leave your mobile phone on when you are at a press conference with the Ipswich Town boss, that’s practically suicidal. Anyway back to the gist of what the former Ireland international is saying, couldn’t agree more. Yes Ireland were cheated out of a shot at reaching the World Cup but they were never going to get a replay. Keane also makes a good point about a penalty they won against Georgia which defies belief.

Arsenal —
ennui noun a feeling of utter weariness and discontent resulting from satiety or lack of interest; boredom.
That pretty much sums up how I’ve felt for some time about the Thierry Henry handball situation. You’ll recall that I launched a preemptive backlash against the hysterical media coverage right after the incident happened, before most of the media accusations of cheating, etc. even started.
I’ve pretty much tried to ignore it since then (although I have to admit I laughed several times at Roy Keane’s take on it in a press conference). There’s been a lot to ignore, ...
