A stray cat invaded the pitch during a Croatian top flight match between Sibenik and Medjimurje Cakovec, much to the delight of cat loving football fans and fluff piece news reporters everywhere.
Medjimurje goalkeeper Ivan Banovic picked up the delightfully out of place kitty in the 20th minute of the match and carried it over to a hole in the fence that appears to border a wooded area, which, as we all know, is the natural habitat for a house pet.
This cuddly story had a not so feel good end, though, as the referee booked Banovic for leaving the pitch without permission during his attempt at a good ...

Posted By Rob Parker on November 24, 2009 Croatian club Medjimurje Cakovec had their goalkeeper booked for removing a cat from the pitch during their match against Sibenik. Ivan Banovic plucked the feline pitch invader from the field of play and went to release it under a fence behind the goal. As far as we know, the cat lived happily ever after. Banovic, on the other hand, was booked for his efforts for leaving the pitch without the referee’s permission. In fairness, he does offer the cat to everybody else behind the goal before taking it to the fence himself. And a player would never be booked for this sort of good deed in the Premier League. Good deeds will get you nowhere, at least not if you are a goalkeeper in the Croatian top flight. Ivan Banovic of Medjimurje Cakovec took a moment to rescue a stray cat that had wandered on to the pitch during a game, safely putting it out of harm’s way near a scoreboard.
